From the average individual to interaction networks

Up until recent years, the models for human behavior were based on the concept of "average individual". Nevertheless, new technologies and the change in our habits have created new statistic asymmetries that have a fundamental impact on our behavior, on the way an epidemy, information or an idea or rumor is spread.

Nowadays, the paradigm of the "average individual" has given way to the need for statistically characterizing real interaction networks (either among humans or in natural systems), for their structure dtermines the dynamics and way of functioning of the whole system. In this session, we will debate -using data from interactions on social networks, among others- what do we know about the laws that describe collective behavior in humans, and what challenges do we face in the future together.
