SLIC (Software Libre e Instituciones Culturales -Free Software and Cultural Institutions in English-) is a collaborative project among a variety of Spanish cultural institutions that have gathered together to exchange knowledge and experiences aiming to develop achive tools and create a technological platform that interconnects different digital archives.
Medialab-Prado (Madrid) and Hangar (Barcelona) started this project in 2008 trying to find convergences and share resources using free software, since it that allows to adapt solutions for different necessities and at the same time, allows other groups to use them in the future. Through a series of encounters since May 2009 and online work, many other institutions, developers and other interested peopole have joined the initiative.
