Data Journalism group

The Data Journalism group has started with the aim of explaining what this new discipline consists of and especially to explore its development potential in Spain. We are beginning with a series of workshops and talks to study the various phases this type of investigation should involve. The first session is about Data Capture.

Getting the data needed to carry out an investigation is not always easy. One must locate it first, and then request and wait to receive it, if the information is public. If the data is available on the Web, one must extract it and create treatable databases. This is a special feature of data journalism. In addition to the content of the information, other factors acquire significance, such as the format or knowing how to use the data obtained. These topics will be addressed in the session on Data Capture.
