Manuals could be considered as an important interface between end-users and software programmers, often overlooked as a platform for collaborative fiction about future tools. Using the well-known format of the booksprint (a group of self-motivated people with varying skills writes a manual for a specific set of tools in a short amount of time) as point of departure, we write a manual about how to design a typeface, as well as how to produce it using specific software. A case study looking at the relation between learning, development and creation.
Guests: OpenFontLibrary, OSP, The Unicode Consortium and Debian/Ubuntu font teams.
