As a part of the cicle of introductory workshops to the functioning and usage of the tools and machines at Medialab-Prado's FabLab, it is now the turn of the introductory workshop to laser cutting and engraving.
Laser cutting and engraving machines, are capable of moving a toolhead in two axes at the same time along a predefined route. The toolhead shoots a laser beam, focusing it on a work surface. The laser beam cuts or engraves different types of materials, such as paper, cardboard, acrylic, wood, etc. The laser beam is very accurate, capable of making very fine cuts and subtle engravings.
The laser cutter at the FabLab allows us to prototype and cut pieces easily and quickly.
If you are interested in learning more about this machine, its capabilities and manufacturing techniques associated with it, come join us at our introductory workshop to laser cutting and engraving.
