AVLAB_JOZI Special

This South African AVLAB Special will take place on the second week of August in Johannesburg, Jozi for the locals. Taking place over three days, it covers a meeting at a University, a concert in an urban theatre and a workshop at a local township.

All the activities are free and open to the public (subject to capacity).

AVLAB_JOZI Meeting @ Digital Arts Wits

Under the umbrella of the sound art seminar organized by the Departments of Music and Digital Arts of Wits University, in this meeting the participants will be Francisco López (ES), James Webb (RSA) and João Orecchia (RSA).

AVLAB_JOZI Concert @ Alex Theatre

In his second concert in Joburg, Francisco López will immerse the audience in his particular acoustic universe, in which the world is the instrument. For his part, James Webb will kidnap the audience using only sound weapons.

AVLAB_JOZI Workshop @ Alexandra Community Centre

As part of the Borderless Project, developed by Trinity Session (Stephen Hobbs & Marcus Neustetter), South African, Mozambican and Zimbabwean artists, residents in the township of Alexandra, will participate in a workshop with Francisco López and James Webb, learning about artistic techniques with sound, with special attention to the township environment and soundscape.
