The Conceptions of Nature in the 20th Century is a research and artistic creation project oriented to visual arts, based on the interdisciplinary study of scientific images and concepts. That interdisciplinary approach is based on the shared work between teachers and students from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, belonging to many different fields of knowledge: Fine Arts, Philosophy, Physics, Biology, Medicine, and Engineering. Durign the course 2008/09 a first stage took place, divided in two moments: 1) presentation of the initial stage durign the Science Week (2008), and its presentation as completed projects at Medialab-Prado in June 2009; 2) exhibition of finished works (paintings, sculptures, photographies, videos, etc. ) during Fall 2009.
During 2010, the Technologic and High Studies Institute of Monterrey (Mexico) will take part in the project, following the same structure, metodology and purposes. Works will be coordinated there by the School of Art and Design, the School of Architecture and the Department of Phylosophy and History of Science.
