Commons Based Enterprises workgroup 2012
Firstly, a very significant enterprise to accomplish is the programming and testing alongside DABNE (http://www.dabne.net/) of the semantic wiki that will host the project’s contents. This site will be available at www.empresasdelprocomun.net. This tool will allow the contents of the project to be easily accessed and provides a framework in which these contents can be re-articulated and worked with. This implies that either the members of the project’s community or any kind of users can pool from these contents and deploy them and work generating a new form of commons. We are planning to conduct a workshop in the Laboratorio del Procomún in order to test the site out and see how it functions, this will take place early in 2012.
Another important task we are seeking to accomplish is to conclude drafting and validating what we have called the “Commonstitution” (that is, a set of protocols and norms designed to define the rights and duties that the community of researchers must acknowledge when becoming part of the project). These norms are aimed at ensuring that the contents and tools generated by the different research groups can become sustainable and useful resources. This document will become updated and modified if needed but will set out the initial parameters to manage this collective commons.
These two tools only become relevant if we manage to establish a strong community to look after and implement them. This is the reason why we are also working on defining participation strategies and trying to build a strong network able to bond researchers, funders, collaborators and users together. In order to do so we are filming video tutorials or writing research methodologies guides that will become public tools completely accessible via the wiki. We are also planning a second encounter aimed at gathering the community of researchers in order to share conclusions, doubts, insights and define new aims for the project.
