In this presentation we will focus on the origins of the maker movement and how does it intersect with Free Libre Open Source movement (FOSS). We will explore the different narratives around the maker/tinkerer and how do they relate to material creation. We will specially focus on the common artifacts and tools developed, as means of personal expression and shared knowledge.
We will explore also the promise of the Third Industrial Revolution, as outlined by Jeremy Rifkin, and the role of desktop and distributed fabrication into it.
